If you have been following my blog you know that we have been to Jekyll many times. This visit was most enjoyable since we had lots of company to share it with! We arrived on April 2nd and Ed and Diane, snowbird friends from Sanlan (living in North Bruce near Port Elgin Ont. in the summer) were already there. This was their first time on the Island so we enjoyed touring with them on the bikes, playing golf and relaxing.
On Saturday the much anticipated arrival of 2 of my sisters gave me great joy. Sandy and her husband Richard and son Matt, Janice and husband Chris arrived in time for John's birthday and dinner at Lattitude 31 at the Wharf; John's favourite restaurant. They had driven from Kincardine and Pittsburgh for a week's vacation. Ed and Diane joined us for dinner and left for the north on Sunday. The fam stayed at Villa's by the Sea, not far from the campground, in a rental condo with a fantastic ocean view. The beach there is impassable at high tide but they have built a beautiful boardwalk with beach access so you can enjoy the ocean and stay high and dry when the water is up. We spent quite a bit of time relaxing there. We all did our own thing but joined up for meals, golf and touring. Matt and Ric
hard got a chance to fly kites; a serious hobby of theirs. 
Jekyll was enjoyed by all.
Caroline and Seamus arrived the day
before the family left. They spent 4 days with us 
in the Cedar Creek. Sharing this beautiful oasis with good friends is something we love to do and it doesn't seem to matter how many visits we have made. I never tire of the marsh views, the smell of the ocean, the hard packed beach, the changing of the tides, the golf, the historic 
district, the wharf restaurant....oh you must go there. We had a busy 2 weeks but I was so ready to head home on April 16th. I couldn't wait to get back to our barely lived in new home! We spent only one night on the road in Ohio at Wapakaneta KOA; the cleanest and friendliest quick stop park I have ever experienced. And they make pizza on the premises to deliver to your RV!The weather was benign and the trip was going smoothly. After I mentioned our luck to John we ended up blowing a tire on the RV about half an hour from the border at Port Huron. I thought this only happened to other people! We wouldn't have known the tire was blown if it hadn't been for a passing motorist frantically waving and pointing at it. John looked in the rear view mirror and saw the smoke. That's when we knew we were in trouble and he calmly pulled over to the shoulder. We contacted our Emergency Road Service and waited by the side of the freeway as traffic whizzed by. A tire specialist was dispatched and amazingly made the change right there on the traffic side. I hope he was given danger pay! I couldn't believe we didn't need to be towed to do this. We were only a few feet from the edge of the road and every vehicle that went by buffeted and shook the truck and trailer. Overall it was not as traumatic as I had imagined. In less than 2 hours we were on the road again and it wouldn't long until we pulled up to 220 Gregor Drive. I was so excited to arrive at our new home!
OH! Wally had a few adventures on this trip. P.S. Amber Alert! Little Wally went missing for a time. Found and much more appreciated now!!
