Our current terrain couldn't be any more different than the desert of Tucson! Today we left Beaumont Texas and only drove as far as Baton Rouge Louisiana. Gulf Shores just seemed too far especially considering that it was cloudy and rainy at times today. So we stopped here after a mere 4 hour drive! Actually we are on the outskirts of Baton Rouge in Denham Springs.
On the drive we took 12 East going north of New Orleans. Not stopping there this trip. The further we got into Louisiana the more swamp and bayous we saw. One causeway was 18 miles long. The trees are just out in leaf and now we are seeing azaleas in bloom. Spanish moss is becoming more prevalent too.
Nearby is the biggest Bass Pro Outdoor World store I have ever seen. And I have seen a few. If you can't find your favourite fishing rod here there is something wrong! We took a walk around but realized you needed a few hours to do it justice. So back to the ranch to plan the next phase of our trip to Florida. And we had to turn the heat on!! Hard to believe since last night we slept with the windows open. The good thing is we have been south and west of the storms and the next few days look great.
We are anxious to spend a few days at Gulf Shores Alabama State Park. We have heard it was lovely and it has all the hookups of a private park as well as a golf course. We have never been this far south in Alabama so it should be fun.

Huh? What are those drops on the window? |

18 miles of this!! |

But the new growth looked beautiful! |

No, we didn't pull over. |

Biggest, hugest...you would not believe it! |
