We spent a week with the Cedar Creek near Niagara on the Lake at the end of June. It was all we hoped it would be. The Sundance was nice but the extra space in the C.C. is wonderful. The learning curve is small since we are used to a fifth wheel now and aside from learning new switches etc. it seems like a smooth transition.
NOTL is an area we have visited many times in the past and again we enjoyed it. Biking there is fantastic and Shalimar Campground is only a few hundred feet from the Niagara Parkway and the path along the river. We did some winery touring on our bikes and golfed several times. The price of golf was quite low, surprisingly, and I finally got to play the "oldest course in North America." That's the claim to fame of the 9 hole course right on the water in NOTL. I think the claim to fame should be the view from several of the holes and the patio!
Grant and Gisele, long time friends, joined us for a few days so that was fun and we were quite happy with how C.C. accomodated 4 people! We helped Grant adjust to his new life of retirement. Summer finally arrived and we tested out the air conditioner several times. Hot and humid weather brought a couple of thunderstorms but did not interfere with our activities. Yup, those are black clouds in the background. But we still managed to play 18. We got 9 in, sat in the clubhouse until it blew by and finished the second 9.
Shalimar is a family campground with many seasonals but also a large area for tents and small trailers. There are a few sites to accomodate bigger rigs with all the hook ups and we found it very pleasant. We had a view of the escarpment. Weekend bands kept us entertained in the evening. Yeehaw! I think we will be going back there again since we love the area so much and now we know where we can stay.
