Home Sweet Home (for a month!)

We have decide to stay at de Anza Trails RV Park for a month!  It is a little Oasis here and feels good to be settled.  You can tell it is becoming home sweet home once the table cloth is on, the flag is up and the mats are down.  Now we can lounge and look at the mountains.  "When the mountains turn pink it is time to drink."  That's the AZ way of saying the sun is going down and it's time for Happy Hour.  And, the mountains really do turn pink!  I will try to capture that one of these days.

We have discovered there is lots to do here to keep us busy, healthy and happy.  Despite being under construction (adding new RV and park model sites) de Anza Trails has a lot to offer.  The main building is a bit retro but in an appealing way.  The pool, fitness room and pretty well all the facilities give you a nice view of the Santa Rita Mountain Range which is the gorgeous back drop for this area.

Of course the mountains offer more amazing hiking opportunities and there are many golf courses within a few miles of here.  John is at a range at the moment.  Tubac, Green Valley, Arivica, Tumacacori are just a few of the nearby towns that are worth touring for golf, culture, history, shopping and who knows what else.  We are only 45 minutes south of Tucson so will likely take a trip or 2 up there to check out our next "home" and other things to do there.

The other day we stopped by Amada Territory Ranch and there was a fleece fair going on.  Lots of Llamas and other strange creatures were very entertaining.

We have been told there are at least a dozen golf courses around the area.  We played Torres Blances the other day and it was great.  Finally we met other Canadians.  We played with a couple from Calgary who winter in Mexico but spend a month here first.  Apparently the Canadians arrive in droves after Christmas.
From near the top of Mt. Wrightson the views of the valley are spectacular.  As you drive up you don't really notice how high you have climbed.  But you sure do on the way down.  Whether hiking or driving we are always surprised by the views when we turn around.  There are huge pit mines (copper) around Green Valley and their flat tops and contrived slopes are not as nice to look at as the rugged mountains.  But they are not totally ugly either.
