Kim and Mary Helen February 25th to March 2nd/10
There’s nothing like a visit from friends from home to make Snowbird life even sweeter! Kim and Mary Helen and I went to high school together and have remained friends through thick and thin ever since. I was happily surprised when they said they were coordinating a visit to Sanlan. Kim lives in Calgary and MH in Kincardine but they managed to arrive within minutes of each other at Orlando airport. Reunited and feeling like we were kids again we began a few days of talking, touring and a totally enjoyable time. Flights out were not as close together but Kim, John and I had no problem "hanging out".
Kim and MH had never experienced trailer life. Trailer Trash has taken on a whole new meaning for them. Let’s be honest…no matter what the venue, or what the weather, the company of good friends cannot be beat!!

The weather in Florida has not been the best this winter and this week was no different but we made the best of it. John was a good sport…maybe felt like he had a harem!! He certainly looked like a lucky duck with 3 women rather than 1 to share the pink jobs! (Not sure if you can see the name of the wine bottle he is holding but it is called Lucky Duck) John would have loved to have the company of Steve and Mike but the girls came “sans” husbands! Despite that and offers from the guys around here to leave the premises entirely, you can see that he made the most of it.
We toured the Sanlan Trails as well as Circle Bar Nature Preserve, favourite spots for gator and bird watching. I think the girls were impressed with the wildlife we have to deal with down here! A day downtown Lakeland did not disappoint. We were amazed at the synchronized feeding antics of the white pelicans and enjoyed the beautiful views of homes and gardens. Happy hour at Harry’s was fun. A rain day forced us to the movie theatres and finally a day of heat and sun got us to the pool.
