We took a side trip from Flagstaff today and drove along Oak Creek Canyon Road on the way to Sedona. It is only 23 miles but takes as long as the Interstate Route which is 41 miles. Switchbacks and beautiful views abound. We did this without the RV and when we go to stay in Sedona for 3 days we will take the less scenic route! We stopped along the way at Slide Rock State Park. It is a day pass park where people go to swim and slide in the creek along the smooth rocks. There is an old homestead there with apple orchards and old buildings. You can also take a hike along the cliff.
This was an incredible drive with the elevation dropping 3,000 feet as we went!
This is a picture from main street Sedona. We spent a couple of hours checking out Grand Canyon Tours and an RV Park. The Park is gorgeous and close to town but very busy. It is full right now but we are booked in there for 3 nights next weekend. The Red Rock Cliffs of Sedona are something else and we look forward to exploring there. More pics on that later.
